LWS - Long distance simulation

Training system for practicing large-scale operations through the simulation of 2 000 meters (6 560 ft) with only 8 hoses

The LWS offers an innovative and practical solution for training in long-distance water supply and optimal communication between firefighters. These skills are especially essential during wildfires, where water must be drawn from a river to penetrate deep into the forest. With the LWS, this critical scenario can be practiced realistically-even in a very limited space.

Instead of the usual 100 hoses used in real-life operations, the LWS requires only eight hoses and three nozzles that simulate pressure loss, while still providing a comprehensive training experience. This saves space, time, and resources without compromising on quality or efficiency.

Prepare your team optimally for real emergencies - with the LWS, the practical solution for realistic and effective training exercises.

Advantages at a glance

  • Space-saving and operational
  • Operable in very limited space
  • Promotes precise radio communication between operators
  • Only three operators and one instructor required

AST - Suction Simulation Trainer

Training system for handling pumps with decreasing suction performance

TheAST, Suction Simulation Trainer, is a realistic training system for firefighters to practice working with pump systems. The AST realistically simulates the behavior of the pump in various scenarios, such as blockages or leaks in the suction line, making it the ideal training system for driver / operator training.

The AST is installed between the suction hose and the pump using Storz A couplings. By adjusting the valve slider, decreasing suction performance can be simulated, as might occur due to a blocked suction hose, a clogged strainer, or a lowering water level in a cistern. Opening the ball valve introduces air into the suction hose, simulating situations such as a leaky coupling connection, a damaged hose, or a strainer that is not fully submerged.

Throughout the training sequence, participants learn the correct handling of pumps as well as the proper reading and interpretation of pump values.

Advantages at a glance

  • Space-saving and ready for immediate use
  • Realistic simulation of air ingress and increased suction resistance
  • Resource-efficient operation
  • Compatible with additional training systems

FAQ – Operator training

What is the universal nozzle / replacement nozzle used for?

The pressure reducer generates no back pressure at flow rates of up to 3 619 l/min (956 USgpm). As a result, the hose is not stabilised during use without the three nozzles of the LWS. The universal nozzle / replacement nozzle produces a slight back pressure to stabilise the hose and protect it from damage.

Why is the pressure reducer cylindrical?

The pressure reducer can be placed directly into a portable tank. Due to its cylindrical design, there are no sharp edges or corners that could damage the tank.
